Open Question: How to beat a plateau in weight loss?

I'm a fifteen year old female and in the past 6 months I have lost about 40 pounds. However for the past month I have been up and down on the scale. One day it tells me I'm down 20 pounds, then the next it says I'm up 40...No exageration either. I look thinner, feel thinner. But lately I've been staying the same. I have cut my calories drastically. I eat small bits at a time and work out for at least a half hour. And I always make sure I keep moving i.e. bounce my legs, tap my pencil, etc. I have also had trouble with eating. One week I'll pig out, the next eat 700 calories a day. And right now, I've been on a routine that usually helps me lose weight. But now it's not working, how do I get over the hump? People who have had experience will be greatly appreciated!! Also, I don't really want to use pills, like the Acia berry, I have looked into that and my mom and I are planning on doing it, however I want something fast and easy and I can do on my own without help of pills, shakes, etc etc.
